Starting a new website project on the WordPress platform? Whether you’re working with us or another development company, your new dev team will need some technical information from you. Here’s a quick overview of what you can get prepared to make your dev team’s life easier.

1. Domain Login Information

We will need access to your domain registrar as well as your hosting information.

Your domain is like a website version of a street address. “Google.com” is a domain, as is “EmberlyDigital.com”. Your domain will be managed by a domain registrar. Common registrars include:

  • GoDaddy
  • NameCheap
  • IONOS (formerly 1&1)
  • Network Solutions
  • Google Domains
  • Bluehost
  • HostGator

You can find out where your domain is hosted using a Whois lookup. We’ll need access to your domain login to launch your new website.

2. Hosting Login Information

If you have a current host on our list of approved hosts, send us your login information. You can look up your current host using HostingChecker.com. If you’re in doubt about whether your host will perform well or can’t find your host, don’t worry. We can set up a new host easily.

LOOK UP YOUR HOST

If we’re not going to use your hosting, we’d love to set you up a new SiteGround account. This is where your website will actually be hosted. If you are starting up as a new brand that doesn’t get a lot of traffic yet, the StartUp plan will be fine. If you have steady, regular website visitors, we recommend at least GrowBig. Don’t worry—we can always upgrade or downgrade your plan anytime. You can set up a new SiteGround account here:

3. Email Login Information

If there is a contact form set up on the website, we’ll need your email information so we can ensure you receive notifications anytime a contact form is submitted. We recommend using an email with the same domain name as the website. If your email account password ever changes, let us know so we can need to reconnect the website to the email account.

4. Mailling List Login Information

If there is a email list signup on the website, send us your email campaign platform login information like MailChimp, Constant Contact, SendGrid, Klaviyo, etc. We’ll need access to this account to connect the website signups to the correct campaign or contact list.

5. Payment Processing Login Information

If you process payments for purchases or donations on the website, you may use a payment processing platform like Stripe, Square, PayPal, etc.

You can send us Developer access—just log in to your payment processing account and invite our Support email address to be a Developer on your team. That way, our team can build payment processing functionality, but doesn’t need access to any of your sensitive financials. Here is how to set up Developer access on Stripe:

How to Send Login Information

We want to ensure that login information is sent securely. You can use a tool like OneTimeSecret to share your login information with us:
