Security Scanning

Once backups have been completed and verified, our Support team will begin security scanning. We scan with several different tools, also performing manual reviews for telltale signs of infection, including:

• Obfuscated code (code written in an intentionally unintelligible syntax to obscure its purpose)
• Suspicious plugins or modules (known to be infected or recently added without our oversight)
• Unusual files (files that are not typically found within the CMS framework)
• Generated website users (users with suspicious data in their profiles, including fake administrators)

Updates

After security scanning is complete, our Support Technician begins making updates to plugins, frameworks, modules, and themes. We test WordPress and Drupal updates on our own internal servers to learn about their compatibility, and may strategically skip updates based on compatibility issues we have discovered. For instance, if we discover that the latest version of Gravity Forms causes issues with a stable version of Elementor, we will skip this update or apply a patch.

Once we have completed updates to your frameworks, plugins, and modules, we will hand the website over to quality control for testing.

Quality Control

Quality control and testing is performed by handing the website off to a different maintenance technician. As part of our internal policy, we do not have individual technicians “check their own work”. After performing regular maintenance on a website, our assigned Quality Control Technician tests each page or page type of the website in major browsers on desktop and mobile.

Our Support Technician then proceeds to test the contact forms on the website, ensuring that the SMTP connecting is in place so that they can reliably deliver

Once all checks are complete, we will send you an email report detailing the results of the maintenance process.
