How We Handle Security

Our team has handled website, software, and application security successfully for some of the biggest projects in the world—including financial software for NASA, escrow software processing millions of dollars in transactions daily, and massive e-commerce businesses under constant attack.

With over a decade of experience, we’ve helped clients recover from hacks, partnered with third-party penetration testing and white-hat hacking firms, and built a robust programming team regularly trained to spot and eliminate potential vulnerabilities. We’re dedicated to making sure your digital properties are watertight.

Security can be an incredibly complicated topic. It’s hard to keep a digital property safe.

However, we’ve found that the best security implementation is often the simplest. Thinking carefully about database and application architecture and implementing industry best practices is the most effective way to stay on the offensive—so you don’t have to go on the defensive.

Our common security practices include:

  • Implementing Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption with industry-standard AES 256-bit encryption to ensure all incoming and outgoing application data is encrypted
  • Using secure platforms for file transfer like SSH, rather than outdated and insecure practices like FTP
  • Carefully sanitizing and escaping every single value in code to prevent injection
  • Using type-safe languages to ensure inputs and outputs match the expected data type
  • Running regular security scans using both industry-standard applications and manual checks

Have questions about website, software, or application security? We’re happy to put you in touch with one of our experienced engineers.

For enterprise applications, we also contract with third-party security testing providers—giving our engineers’ work a triple check.

To this day, we’ve never had a breach resulting from our own code. However, we carry a $2 million cybersecurity insurance policy—double or more than most development companies—so you can have peace of mind that things will be taken care of if the worst happens.
